Sellerie Waneta
Having been mad about horses ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to work with them. I was lucky enough to own my own horse, which led me to realise that tack for horses that fall outside standard sizes is virtually non-existent, and that most mass-produced items are very poorly finished, with consequences for the horse. That's why I looked into training courses for saddle-making, and passed my vocational qualification.
My work consists of producing bespoke leather items that are saddle-stitched by hand for long-lasting durability. I chose vegetable-tanned leather as this is better for the environment, and made in France; the hemp thread I use is also French, which I coat in beeswax to protect it.
The advantage of buying from an artisan is that you can choose your shape, size (made-to-measure), colour of leather and thread as well as the colour of the lining, even what kind of decoration you prefer; the result is an item that can be customised exactly as you please to suit your tastes.
