Para equestrian at the Paris 2024 games

The Paralympic Games are on the program for the 2024 edition of the games to be held in Paris. On this occasion, para-equestrianism has a special place. Riders in this category will have to surpass themselves for 5 days to grab the medal.

The categories of tests

On the agenda for this year 2024, para dressage is the only discipline admitted. The objective is to allow professionals in this equestrian sector to showcase their talents and leave with medals like all the other riders. Here, self-control and control of the horse are required as well as proven technical skills. It is only by insisting on each movement and having the right reflexes that the rider will be able to impress the jury.

To obtain the reserved prize, the rider can register to pass one of the three different categories of tests. To begin, he must participate in the individual grand prix which allows him to show the different figures he can perform with his horse. The organizers already have a precise timetable and a predefined course for the rider and his mount. It is by making a "faultless" that you can have the best number of points, suddenly becoming the leader of your category.

The next category of event is the team grand prix to music. At this level, to a beautiful sound defined by the organizers, the rider will perform figures already known in advance. He must necessarily do what is listed as figures. This therefore comes down to carrying out preparation in order to put himself in the right posture on the day of the competition. -

Finally, the individual grand prix is the part reserved for the elite, the best riders in the competition. To perform it, you have to know how to win at the level of all the other categories. Then, you should prepare beautiful figures to music of your choice. The members of the jury will focus on the performance to detect imperfections and successes. These imperfections include the riding accessories that your horse is equipped with. You will also find some on La Sellerie Française . If all goes well, you will therefore have a good mark and win the medal.

Those concerned

Para dressage is a competition reserved for this edition of the games in general for the disabled. However, there are specificities that are indicated for participation. Orthopedic, paraplegic, tetraplegic and hemiplegic disabled people are expected for the competition. They will have the opportunity to participate in a branch reserved for their disability. For reasons of fairness, mixing is not planned.

Apart from this category of rider, people with progressive or original neurological disabilities are also encouraged to enter the games. There will also be an open branch for the visually impaired. It is based on a final ranking by grade that each participant will be able to progress to the point of winning medals. The classic grades from 1 to 5 are planned for both the individual grand prix and the individual free grand prix with the open team grand prix in between.
