We design, produce, repair and maintain leather items for horses and riders.
But the woman behind Bluemane Sellier is first and foremost an artisan and horse rider: Mélanie Pierret Sailly.
A huge animal lover, I have often struggled to find tack to fit the unusual shape of my horse: A solid build with low, fleshy withers, in between sizes for the bridle... But I also wanted quality!
With this in mind, I decided to take a vocational training course in Decazeville.
I completed my work placements with Bernard Lacuche, a master craftsman saddler, where I learned all about expertise and the love of following traditional techniques. I then moved on to Childeric, a high quality saddlery where I learned to work independently and to very high standards.
I supplemented my training with a leather embossing internship with the craftsman cutler Bruno Duffort, before undertaking a saddle-fitting internship with Eugénie Cottereau.
