Having finished my Master's in history and archaeology, I spent a few months thinking about my options. I realised that, if I wanted to combine my love of horses with my need to work with my hands, I needed to move into a more manual line of business. That's why I embarked on a career in saddle-making. I trained with Michel Charrier (awarded the prestigious title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France) at the Haras (national stud farm) in La-Roche-sur-Yon for a year, followed by a stint as craftsman saddler and harness maker at the Ecomusée d'Alsace. I have now been running my own business for over 2 years.

My main area of expertise is tack for horses. I also produce various saddlery and leather items, retaining certain equestrian elements such as harness buckles, generally using the same leather as for tack. As you can see, leather is a common theme in my designs. Specific tools are needed to work with this noble, living material, as well as mastery of age-old techniques, plenty of patience and above all a passion for this type of craftsmanship.

For leather fans, I also offer introductory courses for people to create their own belts, cuff bracelets, pouches or even halters if they're feeling particularly adventurous! Being a craftsman also means producing fully bespoke items, whether your horse needs a custom fit or you're just looking for a specific, unique piece to suit you. I love working with my clients to produce their items, fully immersing myself in their project like a true craftsman to ensure I meet their needs right down to the smallest detail.
